About David
Over the past two decades, David Granger has worked closely with hundreds of prominent writers, artists, actors, and public figures in his capacity as a magazine editor.
Granger was the editor in chief of Esquire magazine for 19 years, from 1997 until 2016. During his tenure the magazine won 17 National Magazine Awards and Granger was the industry’s editor of the year on three separate occasions. He was awarded the Missouri Honor Medal from the University of Missouri in 2014 for his contributions to journalism. He earned his BA from the University of Tennessee and his MA from the University of Virginia.
Based in New York, Granger has eclectic tastes. Sure, he’s obsessed with politics and current events; actual innovation in design, technology, and science; the culture of food; literary fiction; fame. But what binds these things is a yen for writing that pushes boundaries. Oh, and he has an awful weakness for American tough guy novels: The Continental Op to Reacher, with Dave Robicheaux and Harry Bosch and Buck Schatz and Isaiah Quintabe mixed in.
